ABOUT THE ARTIST

Jeanne Pierce - Biography

 Artist’s Statement

I have always found my peace in nature, and in my artwork I strive to communicate that peace to my audience.  Birdsong in a quiet forest, the gentle feel of a soft breeze, the sound of the sea, or the warmth of the sun are just a few of the feelings I hope to communicate.   As a lifelong student of the natural world, I have always been intrigued by the infinite variety of form and color to be found in nature. Natural light illuminates these forms in a variety of ways: sometimes acting as a spotlight on a particular aspect of a scene, or spreading a diffused glow over the landscape, and other times illuminating the entire landscape in bright sunlight, or veiling it with deep shadows. In my artwork, I attempt to convey these varying effects of light on form and color, and communicate the feeling of a particular place and time.
